It could be a two part trainer/perception quest. Starting with either one of two youngling ratkin, the only indifferent mobs among the ratkin. One likes arts, the other crafts. Maybe about mid way in- with drops that are needed in the next somewhat tougher section; like thread crafted from spiderwebs, and leather crafted from spectre wrappings. Then turn in to each of them in any order, one inspects, the other grants the boots of arts and crafts that give...+1 to harvesting or scavenging?

When he talked about them, I keept thinking about "Boots of Escaping" (I belive that was their name) from a youtube video about some guy shooting another with an arrow while they were playing D&D, then trying to run away from the police. It was hillarious :D

The "Boots of Arts and Crafts" is from a story Jim told his daughters.

It's awesome to hear that the boots will be in the game. Seeing little details that happen during development be acknowledged in the actual game world is cool.
Speaking of shooting people with arrows, that reminds me of one of my first times being a DM. It was summer and my brothers and I were camping with our parents. I had bought one of those D&D adventure kits with a map that had squares for movement. One of my brothers was standing in front of a door and the other wanted to get by. But the brother blocking the door did not want to move. So my older brother, who wanted through, went "I use my turn to shoot his character in the butt with an arrow. Now can we move his character one space forward so I can get by?" ... This was the brother who was more into sports than games and when he did that I laughed so hard. And yes, the arrow made the door-blocking brother move 'one space forward' so my other brother's Half Orc could proceed. :)

Now to decide where they'll drop... *wrings hands*
Lol that's amazing. It probably wouldn't make sense with the lore, but it'd be hilarious if they dropped from Gnashura as an homage to Brad's unfortunate demise there :P
Or maybe they're an item that has to literally be crafted and perhaps one of the ingredients drops from Gnashura. Can't wait to see.
Jboots quest = Epic
Jim Lees Proclaimed Boots of Arts and Crafts, now available! LOL
Shawl quest, Coldian Ring quest = Epic....
I would make it something like that.... 5 to all stats, then can be progressed to xxx stats in the years to come. Much like epic's but for tradeskill bonus's...
Also add speed to them so crafters can farm materials easier........ please.

Lol they'll become the new "Jboots"... "Jim Boots"! Even if they're not something you have to craft, I definitely agree that they should be tied to crafting in some way - maybe giving you a small bonus to success % in all crafting attempts. It only makes sense haha - would be strange for Boots of ARTS and CRAFTS to give you Strength or something :P
"Little is known about the Master Enchanter who accompanied E'mani Karos when he fled in the Spring of 972 IH. Rumours abound regarding nearly all the events leading to their calamitous rush from Thronefast. Of all these rumours upon rumours, lies the tiniest whisper about the man J'im L'Hee. For it is he, none other than the creator of many of the Artifacts of the Age.
What became of him is moot, mired in the mists of time and misfortune....
... but talk has abounded of his most fabulous item; more fabulous even than the fabled S'hassy P'hants of Joo'Pa.
The fabled Boots of Arts and Crafts."
