Which race, for your Enchanter?

Just curious, what races for your Enchanter are you thinking of picking?

Me, I'm thinking about going Gnome for mine. I love their look and background story. Plus, most of my RL friends will be going Ogre on release, so I'm hoping Gnomes will be near Ogres at start.

Otherwise I may end up picking what ever race is closest to them, that is capable of being an Enchanter.

    What races, and why?

Have a great day, thank you for your time!

I will also be going Gnome for my Enchanter alt for pretty much the same reason - they look so unique and I think Gnome Enchanter makes a lot of sense given their lore.

However, unfortunately in your case, it will probably not be easy for Gnomes and Ogres to group together in low levels. The Gnome starting city of Skyhold is floating above the continent of Whitethaw, while the Ogres are on a completely different continent - Reignfall. If you want to play an Enchanter and group with them, your best bet will probably be the Dark Myr as their home city of Syronai's Rest is just a couple zones away from the Ogre's home city of Broken Maw.

Ahh ok, thanks for the info Baz, much appreciated!  I have been wondering where the races each start out, but have not found a map on that as of yet.

on a side note: Bazgrim, it has been an absolute pleasure watching your videos about this incredible game. You have a great attitude for this, and I am glad your granny got you into gaming at such a young age! You can thank her for all of us in the community for that!

I look forward to chanting it up with you in game, good sir!

    Ah thanks very much man!

The atlas is outdated, but it does show where most of the starting cities are (designated by a crown) except for the continent of Whitethaw (which holds the starting cities of the Archai, Dwarves, and Gnomes.) There are also some other zones in between the main zones that were left out, but it at least gives you a general idea of where some of the primary zones are in relation to each other. We will theoretically be getting a more detailed atlas before too long:

    But FYI, starting cities:

    Archai - Su'Roa

    Dwarf - Khadassa

    Dark Myr - Syronai's Rest

    Ogre - The Broken Maw

    Human - Thronefast

Halfling - Sorhiryth (in Wild's End)

    Elf - Faerthale

    Gnome - Skyhold

    Skar - Skargol

Keiiek's always been a High Elf, so I guess Elf would be the closest I can get to that in Pantheon.

Dark Myr probably all the way, I did a DE in EQ. Got to try to feel that again.

I never liked playing elves personally, and I tend to avoid playing humans unless it is a paladin or a bard type character.  I was going to go gnome all the way, but now that they aren't your father's gnomes, I'm going to see what they're like in the alpha and beta to see if I like them or not.  I am interested that dwarves can be enchanters, if I don't like the new gnomes I'm going Dwarf.  If Dwarves really really suck at being enchanters and I don't like the gnomes then I might go with a shaman instead.

Joppa has at least acknowledged that an updated atlas is definitely needed and there will be one eventually, but no ETA on that yet. I am looking forward to it too

No problem! And just to be clear, I am not a dev, but I do follow the devs very, very closely haha :)

Galath will have a friend who plays when Galath is sleeping, and he will be a Dwarf Enchanter and will make little rings for people.

Dwarven Stonechanter blacksmith. The finest Khadassan coldsteel armor to be had...for a modest fee, of course.

Gnome Enchanter as my main and only character during alpha/beta. I may play a necro as well at some point after release.

Once I read the gnome lore I was hooked and Enchanter has always been my class choice.

Honestly, the idea of a Dwarf Enchanter barring the racial illusion has me scratching my head, but eh, I'll go with it.

In EQ I created my enchanter as an infiltrator of Felwithe to destroy those haughty high elves from within. I had to create him as a high elf to do this, but RP'd as though the HE form was my illusion, and DE was my true nature. How lucky was I, being a complete noob, that choosing agnostic made faction work, and the stein of moggok quest, so much easier.

For Pantheon I was considering elf just to keep the elven line going, but instead I'll wait and see how I feel about the other races during alpha/beta. Afterall, this isn't Norrath.

I've always liked ogres, not so much the idea of being one, but befriending them. Something about having an oak tree sized friend along...well, that and ogre speak always gave me a good chuckle. So, maybe DM to allow my starting area to be in close proximity to the ogres whom I hope to befriend in short order. The man who got me into EQ was a great friend and coworker, and played an ogre shm. That may be why I really have an affinity for the butt scratchers.

Regardless of which race, CC is what I enjoy doing and the chanter is my class of choice.
