Ogre, preferably. However, if I cannot quickly get to the Dark Myr city to play with my wife, I will have to go Dark Myr.
Not yet knowing how much of a difference there will be between races abilities/stats or the mechanics of the Dire Lord, it is hard for me to decide. I say that because the current class description says something about the DL utilizing their own blood to fuel spells. If that means that they consume their own health pool, and if Ogre has a naturally larger HP, then I will likely go the path of more effect. I played a DE SHD in EQ and loved when I could spam those precious lifetaps nearly three times as much as an Ogre (effectively giving me more HP and DMG than the Ogre SHD especially since the plate gear was heavy with STR/STA and the cap at one point was like 255 for a long time). Without spells (mana in EQ) the SHD was a very weak warrior. So as I said, depending on the mechanic of the class I will likely be Dark Myr or Ogre... or maybe even Skar. What if the Skar has some mechanic that increases their damage as they take damage?!
It's too early for me to decide :)
I will probably play Dark Myr's largely as I prefer an evil and more challenging leveling experience, but it also depends on the racial bonuses. IE, if Ogre gets frontal stun immunity or something OP like that, obviously, Ogre only for any serious tank. Mix/maxing has a large part to do with optimizing for raiding (playstyle choice).

I am a fellow SK player as well but leaning towards Dark Myr. Of course will wait and see how important race is once we get more information.
