Request: 360° In-Game Promo Videos

    A video like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1gcBPkS8gU

    Or a still like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTPDGjg67Zk

It would let everyone "INTO" the game sooner and would be great promotion you can put right up on youtube.

I want something like this in 360° with the sound of the water.

Lol, I didn't either. I've seen stuff in VR demos, but didn't realize it was already on youtube. I think Visionary Realms should make use of this tech asap. Having videos of scenic locations would be an amazing way of allowing people to feel like they are already a part of the world. Like a shot of boats going in and out of a port or a busy city street.

    It's the future! haha

Facebook has a 360° player now too. If you have a Google Cardboard or better headset you can look around with your head.

This is how they're made from what I've read, unless there's an easier way now especially with Unity. You need a tool that can record actual gameplay where you can play it back from different angles. You can't just record live video in 360° because the games don't render what you're not looking at. So then you make video recordings from atleast 6 angles like a box. After that you use a stitching program to combine them into one 360° video/image. The more angles, the better since with only 6 you get warping from turning the box into a sphere. That's just what I read though, I have no idea how to do it myself.

    Here's a couple from WoW

One from Archeage almost a year ago (best in slow motion and high quality)

    Pretty cool stuff

Couldn't find a way to do it from desktop outside of the engine itself. I'm sure theres a way but I got tired of sorting through bad info on google.

Another plugin for Unity is https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/38755. I think this one is actually more popular. There is more information on it here:

    http://www.roadtovr.com/capturing-virtual-worlds-a-method-for-taking-360-virtual-photos-and-videos/

They actually show the Viking village Unity demo from last year as a 360 video at the end.

I made my own (sort of ) :P

I was watching some parts of the video in 360° on my Oculus using Virtual Desktop. It distorts the video into a sphere and makes it more zoomed in (clostrophobic?) but still looks pretty cool in some parts. I used a screen capture to record a bit and make a gif showing all between the UI on each side. I should have looked up and down a bit more to show it off but it turned out a cool gif of the view anyway.

Edit: Intense spherical dungeon! Bent wizard staff! Aradune casts Gaze of Death!

That is very cool. What if you had a spell in the game that let you do that right above your location. That might be a good one for the ranger class.

Since rangers would already have track, I would see this more mage oriented, sort of like, instead of spell named "aspect of Zomm. " This would be called..."Become the ZOMM!".
Ok, I got a kick out of that.

I think this is an awesome idea, as long as the devs don't have to go too far out of their way to do it. I love the random 360 videos I see on Facebook ads every once in a while. Why hasn't this thread gotten Kilsin's attention yet? :)
