Hi Everyone,
I was thinking about this this morning and on the Discord site we had some discussion on this subject. What if we had quest chains for the Lore of Terminus? Not all of it of course but the huge story that now looms before us with the Gods, Dragons and the races. I was wondering what others thought so we could throw this at the wall to see what sticks.

I love the idea of epic quest chains that reveal some of the lore of the world. I'd love to read things like the history of the world and information on different factions etc. Maybe each faction could have their own lore quest chain that explains more about them to the players so they get really hooked on the story line of the game. Or perhaps there could be small quest chains in every city that just tell a basic story of a single character but if you say the correct thing to them then they will let you start a bigger quest chain that is somewhat hidden to you unless you pay a lot of attention to the story that the character is telling you.
I love the idea of hidden elements in the game. Be that quests, lore or maybe even items, mobs and small zones. It just makes it so much more exciting exploring the world and talking to all the NPCs and making sure you read all the lore you can find. If you can reward players for doing that you'll find an awful lot more people doing things like that rather than just grinding to max level as soon as possible.
I'm all for anything in game that's conveys more of the history and lore of the world.
I would like it if there was a lore section in our living codex that would unlock to give you new content to read and maybe it could also convey some sort of slight bonus to a particular skill? An identify skill or something.
Quest lines that let you speak with some of the characters we've read about in the lore already would be cool!

Not sure I like the idea of a living codex that automatically unlocks when you do a certain thing. I'd rather players have to find the lore themselves. So maybe there is a library in one of the cities and players would need to go into it and actually read the books to discover the lore. That would be a better idea I think. The whole living codex thing seems a bit fake.
Why can't players find lost books out in the wilderness with more hidden lore in or what about completing a quest that gives you access to a book or as I said before having a library full of books you can read. They seem to be much better ideas than just having a living codex that gives you information for free.
Sorry - I mean we have to find the lore, it's not just given. I guess it would have been better to have said added once found - but it gets recorded in our Codex.
I like the idea of finding books and if we could have a bookcase or something in our house (if/when we get housing) that would be great - otherwise I just end up with a lot of books in my bank. I would much rather have my library in the Codex so I can more easily access it and/or not take up a bunch of bank space.

Ah, OK. Sorry. I misunderstood what you meant.
Yeah if you found and read a book and it updated a living codex or completed a quest and it did the same thing that would be cool. I guess what you mean is a central hub which gets filled in with all the information you find as you play the game and find certain information?

Oh, god. I loved the idea that EQ had with those but hated the implementation. My bank was so full of pages I had basically no room for anything else and selling them was a real pain in the arse as well. I had at least two alts that were just dedicated to selling items and gear in EQ. Hopefully the bank will be big enough that we don't have to waste character slots just for characters dedicated to selling.
