I both loved getting buffs from others, and giving them. I hope this is something you will allow, without being grouped with the buffer. I played a Paladin, and I remember asking for invisibility spell to get passed some dangerous zones, to another area when I was a lower level. I think it is good to help one another. Who did not love getting a SOW?

Going to have to agree. It was always great to just randomly get a buff, and made you feel good giving the random buff. See no down sides to it and am sure it will be in game. There may be buffs that require you to be grouped, but I don't think all will
Our guild in EQ used this method as a recruiting tool. Once a week we would sit in an area and hand out buffs, food or whatever help we could. We didn't solicite recruitment, but it showed we were a Guild willing to help players.
We didn't sit and PL players, but buffs, rezzes, and invis spells were freely handed out. I like level limits on the buffs so it's not OP.
I hope it is still this way, but understand if they choose not to do it.
Grouped or not doesnt matter much I think. You can always have your lvl 1 group with your lvl 50 CLR and buff him. The question is duration and lvl of the buff when it lands on a lower lvl player. Does a lvl 50 CLR buff land on a lvl 1 warrior for full strength? or does it auto delvl itself ( >.< like in WoW) to the buff tier just above their lvl? This goes hand in hand with buff duration I would assume. If CLR buffs last 2 hours, and a lvl 50 buff lands on a lvl 1, that is super OP. But if you need to recast every 30 minutes, its much more annoying and would slightly reduce the amount of PLing in this way. We will have to see what the Dev team roles out for us. Though iirc, buffs in the stream looked to last 30-60 mins.
Freedom to buff/heal/help is a great thing and like a gift sometimes. I think it should be allowed.
Maybe it takes much much more work for that Shaman that is lvl 50 to buff that lvl 20 player with a lvl 50 buff, and it would use all of his mana to do so. A lvl 1 could be buffed with the lvl 50 shield but the amount of mana required to make it work would be enough to kill Kerafyrm in one shot.
After the difference is closer to 10 levels it is more doable, if 5 levels of difference, then a normal amount of Mana would be required. It is like trying to travel faster than the speed of light, the energy requirement becomes huge if done conventionally.
The amount of work (Mana,Watts,Nm,gumballs on top of a hill) required to cast a very powerful spell on an unskilled and unprepared individual would carry an Exponential Growth in the amount of work required to make it happen as the difference in level widens.
The Shaman should cast the lvl 30 version of the spell instead.
I know these things, hell, I am a Wizard. :)

I always hated this as it could be easily exploited. Mob a little to hard. park an alt buff bot next to you and buff the entire group out of group and Poof everyone gets extra buffs they shouldnt have.
I dont mind if this is SOW and like Invis but it should be very limited

Uh, the work around for that is ridiculously easy. Why sacrifice an open world social dynamic because some people will power game it to take some small advantage?
