Does anyone know a mana and damage effective spell rotation for a wiz? It shouldn't matter for now if the mob has more resistances to an element. The rotation should include fire, ice and lightning.
My wiz is 28, but not a lot of new spells in the next 2 levels so here's what I'm using.
SOLO (Macro SOLOROT): Thunderous Flow Stance (Fire Damage reduced)
Arcane Cords (Magic)
Personal Blizzard (Cold)
Static Storm (Shock)
Cold Snap (Cold, it is Cold although tool tip doesn't list "Ability School:" like the others)
Static Arrow (Shock)
Volcanic Ash or Ember Arrow (Fire) as Finisher if needed
I'm using Volcanic Ash right now for a faster cast time and lower mana usage. it's effective for the mobs I'm doing, if I needed more, I would move up to Ember Arrow. This rotation is Macro'd up to the fire spell that is manually selected, and the biggest slowdown to my exping is the one-minute cool down on Cold Snap. I have a copy of the macro (NOSNARE) that doesn't use Cold Snap that I use in between and speed things up, however I will take a few physical hit's in-between kills, essentially adding health into the mix as a resource. Them getting snared or not, distance is always a resource as well, I do either of the macros at maximum distance with the goal of killing the mob before it gets to me.
Group is different, I'd like to see some discussion here as well. I'm still trying to find out what's best. Mobs in a group are generally coming much faster and harder to kill, the above rotation would have me down for lack of mana most of the time. I would be bursting on one mob then skipping the next 2-3 while i med up wait on Focus. Balance is the goal, followed with damage.

sitting mana regen = 5 tick
Tics needed to restore mana used 17-18
With this I remain at Full Mana at 1 kill a minute, depending on group makeup were usually killing faster so it does a steady drain on my mana that eventually requires skipping a mob or reducing my DPS, generally I drop Static Storm but that's only 18 mana so not really a big savings.
I'm pretty disappointed in the 1000 dmg per fight, doesn't sound real wizard like to me, but with Mana and Focus constraints I find it senseless to get BIG damage on one mob and then sit out the next 2-3. And i can get some good damage, I save it for bad pulls where we need to bring 1 or 2 mobs down fast, I'll blast the mob, restore Focus and blast some more..... but then I'm (and generally everyone else) is sitting restoring ourselves after the fight so it's acceptable to sit out.
I've been playing around with Icy Stance and Ice Volley in place of Static Arrow, but it doesn't seem to be working out although the 4 hits of 100 with Ice Volley "seem" impressive they are still only 400 dmg for 50 mana compared to Static Arrows 395 for 32 mana... 18 mana for 5 more damage. Not to mention Ice Volley being channeled the mana is spent at the start of the cast.... Even if the mob dies on first hit (100dmg) or somebody else kills it after the cast is started the full 50 mana is charged, with Static Arrow the mana is expensed at the end of the cast.
