Great adventures

Just wanted to post about positive experiences lately. I've had great fun the last few nights on my new ranger after server merges. It was a good move.

I solo leveled early on, crafting enough to make myself a set of leather armor and a new bow. Questing kept me busy.

Then I answered the call to join a few groups. Nothing most people who read this haven't heard or done - thugs, skeleton ruins, and then goblin caves. I found the dynamics interesting and fun. I felt a useful part of our fellowship. Someone schooled me on how and why to use "expose." My weak "fickle heal" kept our wizard alive once, but I found it more useful for healing myself after battle.

Tonight I partnered up with a dwarf shaman and we traversed up and down the landscape hunting boars, all the while keeping watch for a certain undead lich (or whatever he is). Before long we moved on to assault the bandit camp. Then we just explored a bit and did a bit of harvesting - together we took on targets that either one of us would have struggled with.

This game really shines when grouping up with others.

Class-wise, like others, I found the ranger effective at this early level.

Tracking works well, but I wish there was a vertical distance meter as well as horizontal one. The verticality of the game world might get confusing before one gets to know an area - especially below ground - or above ground over a cavern.

I also really wish I could give the Moonrose Balm to others to use, but it's no trade. Don't think it would hurt, and I like to help others. That said, I hope a stronger, druidic heal is coming.

Anyway, I know I don't play as much as others, but the fun is there. I'm glad I'm experiencing it. Just 2 copper from someone who enjoys what they are trying to do here.

I recently caught myself thinking that I wish others would post more about their experiences. Thought I'd better step up and live up to my own expectations.

Looking forward to more fun and adventures to come.

I have been enjoying the game a lot, even with adjustments away from hard mode.

I play a dwarf rogue (no alts), level 26 at the moment.  I enjoy the fact that grouping in the game means something, and that you have to work together to accomplish things in the game.  Learning about how to use expose and off-balance for those that can close those, as well as exploiting an open gap, make working in a group much more fun.  I also like that you basically have to choose your skills based off of the group makeup and/or content you are going after.  You actually have to think about what you are going to do and coordinate with others on how to maximize overall group dps, debuffs, etc.

While there are those people that love to solo their way through content, I am not one of them.  I like being group dependent, hanging out with people.  I am sure if I followed along with the min/max guides on Discord I'd be performing at a higher level, but that takes away from the fun.  I don't play to have it be a second job, I play for the socialization that the game provides.

As for in-game experiences: Being a rogue, I get to go to places that my guildmates can't (I am the only rogue, lol).  I like lurking around Hanggore, Mad Run, and HC.  I sneak around EP.  Sure, I am looking for loot chests, but I am also learning my way around so I can guide my guildies when we get ready to do the content.  I watch groups in Hanggore taking on regular and named mobs, seeing how they handle pulls and such.  Sneaking around gives me an opportunity to learn.  My core group is usually a dire lord, a cleric, and whomever else we can pull in to go adventuring with us.  If we don't die at least once a day, we aren't adventuring right.
