Thanks for the reply, Jothany.
As mentioned, I'm a pledger who would like to play on Linux. It seems the "VR Patcher" is Windows only, is that correct?
I have an older Windows box I could use, I think, if necessary. If I decide to pay again for the Steam version, can I access my same character from either login?
Thanks
I'm sorry but no, if you buy it from Steam that is a different account entirely.
Yes, VR's patcher is for Windows, however some people have been successful at playing the Windows version with VR's launcher on Linux machines. There is a long thread about it here and there is some discussion about it on the Pantheon Discord as well. I don't have a link to the Discord discussion, though if you ask on the 'Pantheon Game Discussion' or the 'New Player Discussion' channel you would likely find it.
Good luck, see ya on Terminus

Thanks for that valuable info. I was assuming Steam would just run the game, and a player could log-in as what ever account they wanted. So I guess the in-game account would be tied to the Steam account. Good to know, because I want to be in-game as "Talryn," the account I reserved when I pledged.
Thanks also for the lead to the Linux thread. That's the route I'll probably take. I have a pretty capable Linux gaming box, and I can run Windows in a VM, but the performance in the VM was abysmal.
Yes, I look forward to seeing you in Terminus, too. :-)
@Talryn were you able to get the game going in linux? I play on linux (early supporter also... not using steam client). If you need help getting it working search for a thread in these about it on ubuntu and it has a good guide, but if that doesn't work for you DM me and I can help you get it working in pretty much any flavor of linux (I have done it in mint, open suse, nobara, manjaro and vanilla arch... so it works well).
Hi @Loonypath, thanks for the reply. No, I don't have it going in Linux yet (Mint), but I look forward to it. Been a tad wrapped up in life outside gaming (gasp). :-)
I'll look at the page you referenced; thanks for the lead. I think it's this one: https://seforums.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/15363/i-have-it-running-on-linux-ubuntu
It's nice to hear that it works well. If I can't seem to get it going, I'll ping you, and thanks very much for the offer.
Is there a "main" or "official" game server to join?
There are over 20 servers available to choose from. If you have friends already playing, you'll want to ask them which one they are on.
There are 10 servers for US-East, the most populated ones. Blackmoon is the most crowded. It has 4 'shards' of it, where any chars you create on one of them will be available on the others as well. (your chars can't login on a different named server). This appeals to people who want a server that is always busy, though it has meant some tech issues for people who play on BM that those on other servers haven't had.
There are 10 servers for US-West, most with less population though Havensong has 3 shards and gets pretty busy. (You can see how full the servers are when you login, before you choose where to go).
There is a Central European server that has 3 shards, and an 'Oceania' server that is located in Austrailia.
I got it working by just using the Lutris graphical interface. IIRC these are the steps I followed on a recent build of Nobara. I don't think I missed anything, but didn't document it while I was doing it.
Open Lutris and add a game via .exe
Point to pantheon installer .exe
Run through the installer and run the launcher, it will say that it needs to download and install gecko, let it.
I got an error at some point here and had to kill it and relaunch it, got .net missing errors
I used the Lutris GUI to open winetricks and select the default prefix
Install .NET48 using winetricks and ignore many 64 bit compatibility errors
Run the launcher and patch
It worked!
