Using adventuring level to set the cap on Crafting skills is a temporary measure that was necessary in order to get Crafting into testing. Once VR can get the rest of the Crafting system coded and implemented into the game, Crafting Skill will not be capped by adventure level. It is a PITA for all of us Crafters.
Well it's good news that it will not be locked behind a character levels, because that would be a terrible design for this type of game.
Are we going to be limited to 2 trades in the future? Or will we have the ability to craft everything on 1 character if we choose to? I've never been the biggest fan of having to log in to an alt for professions, I feel it is out dated. But I also understand if that is the case and would definitely continue to do so like i have for the past 25 years if that's what it is.
As of right now I've just been wasting coin on buying things I can have the resources for and craft on other alts as there is no good way to move mats around and it's not worth the wait to find someone who is willing to wait around while you craft armor and need 2 different alts to make the components.
Im assuming in the future we may get a small shared bank we can put bags in to help with transferring items, but then again maybe not. In EQ1 they evolved over time adding in some outdated tactics to improve QoL, without putting in too much QoL to the point it would kill the social aspect of the game (i only played up to PoP, then switched to eq2, so not sure what they did after that)
I am pretty sure we'll be limited to only 2 Crafts at release. Whether that will be open to any 2 trades, or structured to one equipment craft and one consumable craft (provisioner or alchemist) is anybody's guess.
A major part of the Crafting system has been planned out but is not ingame yet due to a limited number of Programmer Devs, resulting in their time being in very high demand and thus only the highest priority stuff getting their attention. They have been mostly focused on server stability and fixing the very biggest bugs/glitches since EA opened. As EA issues get smoothed out, we should see a wider range of content start to trickle into the game.
The success of EA on Steam, with continuing growth in the number of new players, suggests that VR will take on some new staff in the not too distant future. This should also bring increased functionality to Crafting.

When every crafter needs mats that they can't make themself, there will be plenty of crafters making the same choice. Create an alt to make it themself, or develop trade arrangements with another crafter. This should be quite simple if one is in a guild, and not that difficult even for those not in a guild. Once you know what mats you regularly need, you can trade for multiple items at once and not have to go looking to buy/trade for one part every time you want to craft an item.
The choice is yours.
