please, for the love of god, make the target ring the con color for the thing being targeted. this is something that was available in EQ1 since Kunark(Edited: Actualy Velious had all the UI changes, sorry!), even tho it took a UI mod to do it. I understand that you have 101 or more keys to play with on a keyboard, but some things should just not be a separate command, especially something so important to the game as con.
With the absolute chaos melee is with all the spam, action, spell effects (*Please add option to lower spell opacity!*), I would add to that an arrow on the ring re-confirming the enemies true facing direction: It turns out with wonky animations it's overly difficult to tell if I'm flanking etc.
' This. It's a bit mad it doesn't. If there can be more nuance, it can go in the con text."
No thanks, why bother programming in /con messages at all?
*Tongue in cheek response is let's just skip to the logical conclusion of this "argument" and have all the mobs' nameplates flashing all around you and the one you have targeted was the only one which wasn't flashing, IN their according /con color, and a little firework go off to draw your attention when you target a discrete new mob.*
Get you ice traction cleats, devs and hold firm. Some of us still believe.
" @Geddoe If that is how someone else's UI looks, how does that affect you? Just keep yours "as-is." Just like EQ, some people had all the UI mods and loved it while others were purists. Choice is divinity! "
Because custom ui, more often than not, is argued for by folks who want 'in-s" to alter the basic ruleset of the world in some way that favors them. Then You, who may not have been interested in doing that at all, are then Functionally forced into it if you plan on high end gaming. <#screwdiscord>
I still believe in a Pantheon with a good STANDARDIZED ruleset, but I may be the minority.
Please do not go away from the roots and heritage you've created in EQ.
@Nasotha - it's ok if this game isn't for you when the vast majority of us enjoy specifically play the game for it's current systems (e.g. having to con a mob). There are many other games you can play that offer the experience you are looking for without changing the one we want.
So VR has talked about these kinds of issues more than once over the years. Their position has been that skins (UI mods) that give the player information that those using the default UI don't have access to will be prohibited. Skins that only change the look or placement of info that is already available to all players will be allowed.
I don't expect them to spend resources on implementing the change suggested by the OP. But if a player makes a skin that does what the OP asks for, IMO it's not likely to be prohibited by VR either.
We've got a while before we even get to Release, and any number of things can change before then. Everyone feel free to post your opinion of what you would like to see, and let others post theirs as well.
See ya'll on Terminus
personally, i would be totally fine with simply allowing us to put con back on the right click like it has always been in everquest. making right click turn on autoattack seems like the devs just WANT people to accidentally kill themselves accidentally attacking mobs.
until i went back to EQ and started playing it again i had forgotten about right click to con, but it just makes so much sense. as to UI mods, for me, i mostly just modded mine to make the UI as small as possible. a lot of the mods that were available for EQ1(and still are) make no sense to me.
having the target ring the con color is literally base everquest UI. dunno how it's such a controversial subject, but big deal. let me map my mouse buttons and i'll be happy.
