Joined the original kickstarter and finally started playing so my hopes are high.
Old school EQ player here that still plays P99 and Quarm. This is short feedback from level 1-6. I will post my level 10 feedback again later and maybe continue every 10 levels.
I realize this feedback probably exists already in some fashion but maybe an additonal voice may help. Fresh eyes and all.
Pros
Strong EQ vibes. Nailed a lot of what made Everquest great.
Didn't expect so many quests, great! I have some goals in the world.
Good crafting system so far. A little overwhelming but gives me lots to collect.
Lots of places to explore around world. Overall good sometimes too many invis walls.
Cons
Made the aquactic race and discovered there is no swimming! Player walks on water.
- Suggestion: Add a placeholder animation when you enter water for now, this would be an improvement. Immersion breaking
Intro quest for Alchemy is overly complex and feels harder than other intro crafting quests. You need Rock Salt which is a component of Smelting from another system.
- Suggestion: Replace this quest with something simple to get people interested in Alchemy. I ditched Alchemy for this reason, its not easy to get into and now im just selling all my components
Hotbar - Cannot drag items you make like bandages to hotbar for easy use. Another reason why i dropped Alchemy.
Game asks you to collect a lot of items for crafting, thats fine i like that part of game. What I don't like is the no auto stacking from Inventory to bank.
If I worked at Pantheon would fix the no dragging on hotbar and auto stacking asap, these are quality of life things that would help everyone enjoy the game more.

Welcome to the game :)
Hotbars and the LAS (limited action set) are still/again a much discussed topic. I (and I think many others) would like if there were "generic" hotbars where you could place abilities, macros, clickies etc. While still keeping the limit to how many abilities can be prepared (that in itself is a good thing, and also how EQ kind of did it, if only for spells).
Regarding the auto stacking...that used to work until the last patch :) It may have been disabled accidentaly (there are other bugs with items lost when retrieving them from your corpse, and I assume that stacking was disabled to prevent item loss while they search for a solution to that other bug). I am sure stacking will come back, and I agree, it's currently quite annoying without it.
You can use a bag as sort of a consumable hot bar and keep it open and handy. Seems to work OK for now.
Good news on swimming. It is happening. Joppa showed off their water system, "Crest" during his stream. It looks awesome. And one of the coders told Joppa that it would be more difficult to have characters *just* swim on the surface. So we might have underwater swimming for EA. An additional detail here: When they update to Unity 6, a new water system will be introduced which gives them the control they are looking for (currents and such underwater). So they are probably not going to put much work into underwater "content" until then. Unity 6 will be transitioned to sometime early-ish 2025.
I dont mind limited action bars, but let me choose what and where i want to bind the skills..
I hate having to rebind for each characters cause on some i will use more ALT than SHIFT.
Not beeing free to bind whatever skill i want wherever i want it is one of those rare thing that could and can make me quit a game.
