I just found out Amazon Studios gave people exclusive cosmetics if they watched their streams on twitch.
I didnt know about this, so its horrible, but mostly i just hate exclusive items, missing out of any ounce of content through means beyond your control is horrible for most gamers.
Your my main MMO so id be more annoyed if you did this, please dont...
But if you ever do, email me seven times and phone me so i dont miss out.

I personally hope they don't. That would mean a cash shop for one (a touchy subject for many,) and would also mean people who backed the game early don't really get anything for it other than testing privileges.

I think they already plan to sell cosmetics individually, those who backed the game gets tons of benefits beyond cosmetics.
It's an interesting idea to think about. I'm pretty sure I fundamentally disagree with the idea, but not that strongly. There are just so many things in life where a certain number of people get the thing and no one else does. "The first 100 customers" "while supplies last" "this item is now discontinued" etc.

If you put in the appropriate amount of time and effort, why should you not be able to obtain every item (or most items) in the game? All those items are available, they exist for people to obtain. You just need the correct combination of pieces (class, level, faction, skill, time) to get it. I, as a Shaman, clearly can't get an item which only comes from a quest only Wizards can get and complete. But I, the person, can then play a wizard and work my way up to that point to get that item. So yes, while a single class cannot obtain every, or most, items in the game, the person should definitely be able to do it.

Are you saying that we should be able to obtain any item or we should be able to obtain every item?
I can understand both sides you should be able to get everything right? but then what makes something special when not everyone can get it. if its not special is it worth it. I can understand both schools of thought i would say that perhaps a vast majority should be able to get maybe 95-99 percent but then perhaps their should be exclusivity in some things. Such as being at a special event and getting a collectible from that. You dont have to have everything and in fact unless you dedicate a lot of time you wont get it. Also having everything means that naturally most things wont mean anything to you at least thats how i feel. There was a story about a king who supposedly had everything he entered some sort of competition I forget the details but he challenged someone to find something he didnt have it came down to a very old well seasoned pot. You see to the king his possesions meant nothing because he had everything but to the challenger this pot was special it had been in the family for a very long time so having something be special can be a prized possesion.
I don't mind exclusive items in the world. In fact, I think that exclusive items can enhance a player's experience by promoting a sense of accomplishment and adding an air of prestige. I would be cool with seeing "seasonal" rewards tied to PVP, clearing a raid before it becomes a cakewalk or other "seasonal" events. I also wouldn't mind seeing in-game promotional events offering exclusive rewards, kind of like how WoW has pre-expansion events. Basically, I am fine with any exclusive item unlocked through gameplay.
I am also ok with collector editions offering exclusive in-game items (mounts, pets, cosmetic armor sets, housing items...ect), as long as these items don't break the game.
I am not ok with in-game exclusive items being placed temporarily on an in-game store as a limited-time purchase. Situations like this always end up feeling like a cash grab, and they never leave a good impression. When it comes to external promotional events offering in-game exclusives, it really depends, but typically I don't like them. I would much rather see in-game exclusives be tied into gameplay.

There are already going to be some "exclusive" items. For instance, there will be special skills and spells that you can only obtain by doing certain things, such as exploring. That makes them exclusive to the people willing to do that. Exclusive doesn't necessarily mean "only one person will get this". It can mean, "Only people that do this can get it."
I saw a sword with an obsidian-inlaid hilt that said it is possible to fix the broken blade and reforge the sword. It was an item found after killing a boss in a dungeon, which, in this case, is also exclusive. Remotely fascinating, I am tempted to explore what other mysteries this land has to offer.
