Will there be more than simple "Hail" interactions with the NPCs, which would be great if done with a keyboard as in the olden days of EQ for instance. But, will there be hidden keywords, for example that trigger additional things such as hidden quest? Hidden objects you can interact with in the world via different player functions such as hit, throw, use, etc. and/or keyboard commands (for that olden-feel)? Hidden content adds whole new layers that at the same time serve the purpose of combating the rise of the Internet and the ability to easily search for content completion. I know you guys already have the perception system, but adding on to that would be nice. World of Warcraft has done similar long, epic lore-based secret quests since Legion after finding the community had an interest in them since Vanilla days. There's even a community called the Secret Finding Community on Discord for WoW. Also, hidden vendors etc. are a real thing in WoW? The real question is though, can you guys make this a real, additional layer of content or would it be too taxing on the players? Details are king, after all.
Also, i remember in old EQ you could hand NPCs certain specific items and it would trigger hidden interactions.
Too bad I can't edit my post :(. I'm sure you guys are going to add these things, as well as keep the world static enough for it to not feel random, as you guys have stated in previous livestreams. Personally, Pantheon seems like it's going to appeal to a lot of players including players of games such as the Elder Scrolls series. This is sort of what Elder Scrolls Online should've been as well.
Mod Edit: Consolidated all in one post for you :)
I'm not sure about hidden keywords but they did say that the perception system would probably contain hidden checks which would open up a different perception path and experience for each player. Some of those hidden checks would be a bit more obvious than others such as 100% completion of an objective. It is entirely possible that they might also throw in wisdom, intellect, charisma, strength, dex, agility constitution, or stamina checks in as well as class/race checks and if you meet these requirements then you could bypass a step or you could still continue with the perception quest even if you missed one of the previous objectives.
They haven't really talked much about generic NPCs and how they will function, or how some of the more task-based quests will be obtained. It's possible that these are also tied into the perception system in some way and if they are there could be hidden pathways/ branching pathways for those quests as well.

They haven't shared a whole lot about this so far but we do know some things. Perception system will be where the primary and interactive story line is delivered to players.
But will you be able to walk up and talk to NPC's? Yes.
Is it possible some NPC's may have hidden quest? I believe so.
We have seen "hail NPC" and [Quest] type dialogue in the past so it's in at least in some form or another.
My overall impression of what I have seen so far from the demo videos is that the game will have a mixture of perception and hail type quest. I personally believe they will also have hidden quest where you say a key word to an NPC through text chat to initiate a quest, but I have no proof, it's just a feeling I get.

I really hope this is a thing and that it makes up a good percentage of the total number of quests in Pantheon.
