Question Regarding GUI

So, I recently loaded a very old game that brad worked on ages ago i dont want to mention it here only because i want the fouce to be about his new games. but when i loaded this game up i noticed something intresting and left me to uninstall the game have not even been on it for 10mins. That would be that the GUI was so tiny on my 4k monitor i couldn't even read any of the GUI menus words or anything.

So my question is, will there be a GUI scaling option?. This i feel is very over looked since MOST gaming at the moment is still played on 1080p so the 3840x2160 is forgotten about. but i think GUI scaling slider would help this alot. and if this isnt posabile then offer some Larger GUI windows when playing in 4k.

Understand that the game you're detailing (Would have to be EQ as the only others are WarWizard 1 and 2, SWG and VG) is now 20+ years old and wasn't designed for large resolutions. Yes, you can expect a modern UI variance in Pantheon to include resolution scaling like in other recent MMORPGs.

For EQ, you're correct as while the chat font size can be increased, the ability gems, action bar, health and resource meter etc., are all too tiny.

Since they are building Pantheon with the Unity Engine I would think this should answer any questions you might have. I do know they have said they will be supporting most if not all resolutions.

The UI scaling has been a nightmare for me in many games, too. Going back to Dark Age of Camelot and EverQuest meant dropping the resolution considerably, or keep a magnifying glass handy! My monitor is not 4k either, it's lower than that, but it's still higher than 1080p, and subsequently causes issues. I dread to think how bad it would be on a 4K monitor.

Newer games seem to be fine, so I'm sure Pantheon will be, too. Not a bad idea to raise awareness of the issue early on in development, though.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  While Unity is "just" the engine, it'll support pretty much whatever the team decides to throw at it.  Since multiple resolutions will be supported, it would stand to reason that the UI should be able to scale as well.  However this is just me, I'm just another patiently waiting fan making an educated guess based on the information that is currently available.

My eyes aren't what they used to be. I consider UI scaling a critical issue on almost *any* reasonably sized monitor.
