Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong spot!

Does anyone know yet if pantheon will be configured with sli or crossifre in mind?

Configured in such a way that it allows you to use two graphics cards at once :) For instance, My computer has two GTX 970's This link may help explain better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGN1na3F5do

If I am not mistaken, I believe the use of SLI is all build into the graphic card logic and does not necessarily require any special programming on the game side.  Meaning, the graphics cards and system board realizing that SLI is in use will split the processing of the graphics on the hardware level.

I may be wrong, however, I am about 80% sure this is how that technology works.

not sure if that is even relevant with todays video cards, specially in an mmo. The video card makers would have to offwer that suppor. Dont think many do anymore like back in the early 2000's

From what I have seen the heyday of linked video cards has passed, and the focus is more on having one single powerful card. Not that linking cards is dead by any means but I think it gets less emphasis.

Even in the heyday I think the great majority of MMOs gave it no special support. Whatever your cards did, they did, the game didn't care.

Well, the reason I asked is because I was considering just sizing down to one higher end card. Some games used to support sli, most didn't (so I would use where available). However I run 3 monitors on my set up, and while possible it can be a bit of a pain in my expierience to run 3 monitors off of one card hence my conundrum

It was a good question - one I have asked more than once myself though maybe not on these forums.

I would expect that Pantheon will support SLI and Crossfire to the extent that the game will play well with them. SLI and Crossfire are common enough that I can't believe they won't go this far.

Whether it will play *better* than with one good card - that is where I was sceptical based on experience with other games.

I have a fairly new computer and this time I switched to a one card solution. But that is with one monitor - for two or three I may very well have linked a few.

Yeah, SLI/Crossfire is largely being phased out for a number of reasons. Because of this shift, my new PC I build may very well be a sealed Micro ATX so I can experiment with a relatively high pressure environment (1.3-1.4 bars) within the chassis. Requires some specialized work however, especially with the types of fans and the exchange.

I will say however, that this shift can be an issue to those who like upgrading and using the old card for physics through SLI/CF. It just seems not to be important enough for the work load of both card developers to keep up with the firmware/software and compatability issues.
