Where are we with pledges?

Havent been on the forums in a while im just hoping the devs see this as its what id really like as an option from the pledges, many of you may be the same.

So i paid for the Advisers pledge at $300
I get alot of cosmetics from this pledge and its great, but then they annouced two new pledges with completely different items.

    Bloodsworn $200

    Black rose $500

If i was to pay $1000 for the triumvirates pledge, i dont get any new cosmetics as far as im aware and thats all i care about.
So clearly im not going to pay $500 for the black rose cosmetics and im not going to downgrade to the bloodsworm for its cosmetics.

I brought this up ages ago, but i wasnt clear, so i just want to show the devs exactly what id like.

    Blackrose pledge:

    Game Title: Black Rose

    Black Rose Nameplate Icon

    Robe of the blackrose

    Satchel of the blackrose

    Black rose vanity pet

    Bloodsworn pledge:

    Game Title: Bloodsworn

    Bloodsworn Nameplate Icon

It may not mean much to some, but i will be truly upset if i'm not able to buy these items seperately at a reasonable price.
Every nameplate, every pet, everything, I want to buy or preferably earn it.

Its money for you and cosmetics for me, so please consider it.

Sooo, you're essentially asking for a cash shop even before release?

Cosmetics and nameplates add nothing to the game but mean alot to the player.

If you can explain how the pledges arent basically a prelaunch cash shop id love to hear it :)

Look under news and announcements for a few threads discussing where they are going with pledges. They have indicated that a revamp is likely (it has already started as you noticed) and this may include the ability to add items for your pledge a la carte rather than picking a package and getting everything in it and nothing not in it.  Then again it may *not* include that - they merely mentioned it as one possibility.

Zorkon is essentially correct but we already have what is essentially a cash shop before release - what *else* is the current pledge system. It operates by offering packages not individual items but many items are cosmetics to be received in-game and even worse some seem to be useful items to be received in-game.

Personally I see a cash shop to raise money so we can have a game not a problem - that is simply how things work these days unless the developers are lucky enough to have full funding without it.

I also see a web-based mechanism for offering things for cash less bothersome by far than an in-game store.

Along similar lines I find a store selling cosmetics less bothersome than one selling useful items - the so-called pay to win option. Selling cosmetics after release would bother me mostly because it is so likely to lead to selling other things - the slope is very slippery. Pledges giving in-game cosmetics *before* release has a somewhat gentler slope.

I'm pretty sure they have mentioned several times they are "fully funded through to launch" so that's a non issue.

This slippery slope you mention doreta is in my opinion even more slippery than your post leads. I don't double pay for anything. For me to pay a subscription and not have access to everything available (ie. Pay extra for cosmetics) would flat out cost them my and my wife's subscription, no hesitation at all. Now IF they want to go free to play with a cash shop, (and of course it's a good game, although I have yet to see a good FTP game) then we may to continue to play, for free.

The problem for is me paying sub and them spending resources on something other than content. Cosmetics are fine, my wife loves them. But I feel they need to be a quiet in game "Content is King" they should be content and not just something you purchase.

Pre. Launch items in pledges. I didn't pledge for a Fluffy Boa. I pledged because there are no good games left. I wanted to be able to add my input in the development process and let it be known what was unacceptable to me. Selling stuff, any stuff, for real money that should instead be filling their "Content is King" tenet is unacceptable to me and a deal breaker. (All downhill from there)

Unless you pay to get to the higher levels, you should not have access to those items.  Those items represent what you did  For the Game  priot to lauch.

Does that mean I don't want a cloth map to be sold separately? of course not. They could sell me a T shirt for $50 and a Cloth Map for $50 and make $90 off the sale. But if they offer things piecemail, that sort of kind of devaules the higher pledges "worth".  I think it would suck to finally get to $3000 and be like "YES! i am getting that cloth map!" and then they open a cash shop and sell that cloth map for $20 ......

I get wanting. I reeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllyy want that cloth map. I have the Original EQ cloth map framed and I wanted to be able to frame Terminus cloth map as well and have them hanging together. but I don't feel "entitled" and that VR "better give me access to EVERYTHING or I quit"  nonsense.

There are 1000 other threads about cash shops. I would see that section. As for pledges. Again. You get what you deserve (pay for). Crying because "it's not fair" / "I am entitled to have access to that".   sorry. Can't hang with you on that. too milennial for me. Not everyone gets a trophy. sorry.

not trying to be a douche. I jus don't understand to the whole entitlement thing.... i don't get it.

Hey Grim, If you paid $300 for advisor and now all of a sudden a $200 pledge is open with what you already have plus more things I get the frustration, but if it is just different things from what you already have then it's just a different pledge level. Honestly I haven't looked at them for a long time. I thought they confirmed that if you upgrade you don't lose your things from prior pledge but also will not receive any double ups going into new one. I'd say send them a support ticket too ask directly, and explain exactly what item/s your trying to gain. I'm sure they will be able to offer a good answer. Best of luck working it out mate!

If they have said they are fully funded through launch that is excellent news. I haven't seen that here on the forums but it may have been in the streams which I do not follow. Or maybe here and I just missed it.

I agree that ideally they will not sell anything that can be used in-game after launch.

Maybe sale of cosmetics bothers me less than some because I simply don't care enough to buy them - I never have in any MMO. I'll wear whatever I can get by actually playing.

The June dev talk let us know that they working on rolling out an A to Z web portal. It will handle game info, forums, as well as purchases and subscriptions.

They have also stated they are making changes to how pledges will work. No details, so we’re waiting to find out what that looks like.

I also agree with the OP, I’d love to throw more money at the game, would love an ala carte option as well so that I can spend up to my comfort level and get w/e swag attracts me.

I certainly don’t feel ‘entitled ‘ by having an alternate preferred way of spending my earned income.

And to be clear- RL swag and cosmetic items only is all I am in favor of, AND it needs to end by launch.

I really don't get the demand for cosmetic items that we have no idea what they look like.  And frankly, I wish they weren't introducing any cosmetic gear at all.  Pets aren't too bad because they're fairly separate from your character.  But in general, your characters appearance should reflect what you've done in the game, not what you've bought in a store.  Mounts are a gray area.  I would just hate to see something like what modern WoW has become, where the most unique looking mounts are all from a store, undercutting the motivation to acquire rare mounts in-game.

@zoltar, I can understand the point of in game appearance  = visual indicator of what gear you have acquired.

Who knows, maybe VR will have Pantheon gear somehow/somewhat coordinated so that you don’t end up looking like a patchwork vagabond With the fashion sense of a one-eyed color blind goblin.

Until then, I’m hoping for some eye candy!
