One of the hallmarks of the Wizard class were the Pillar of ice/fire line. It segued perfectly with the snare spell ( affecting max 4 mobs etc). Now, i hear, that there will be no AoE for Wizard class? Is this true? Forgive me if i missed it looking thru the forums.
Formerly of The Rathe Server, Blood of the Spider, and of course Sullon Zek, Hate.
Yes, I did a fair amount of Quad Kiting back in EQ, especially some walrus like mammals in Vellious, and some moonkin or other mob in Luclin. I would do whatever while medding. SoW and FT made it safe, and tolerable. Wizzes, and druids could quad kite, I saw Bard’s twisting songs with more than 4 mobs trailing In their kiting technique.
I saw an AoE party in Karnor once, but did got get to play. Those involved Wizzies for PBAoE damage, Enchanters for AoE mezzing (enough for continuous) Clerics for healing, and random pullers who brought the mobs into the party. Lag was the main failure mode.

With games the way they are now I doubt lag will be a problem but as far as AOE groups I definitely think will need to be addressed as it will turn into a "pay to play" style as it was back in oldschool EQ to PL your way through higher levels and max level characters profitting off of it.

Yes, although we don't know what the limitations are. Almost every snare in the game is known to have a much shorter duration then in EQ ranging in seconds. Both of Wizards are single target and there's a likelyhood the limitation will be the same as the other three classes with a type of snare. Glint is very short duration lasting a few seconds and an effect from the damaging spell, Magical Bonds on the other hand has no actual values but I doubt we'll see Wizards Quad Kiting again, nor Bards Swarm Kiting nor the AE groups (2-3 Enchanters, 2-3 Wizards or Mages, 1 Cleric) of the past.

Yes, although the actual value was 25,600. That value however, can never be attained given that no zone had that many mobs.

On p99 with Bard AoE DoT's (which are all Point Blank) there did seem to be a limit of 25 targets. So even though you might have 100+ mobs in a swarm you are only applying your DoT to 25 of them at a time. At high level, the bard will have 3 different AoE DoT's and if you use all 3 each time you might be applying the second and third DoT to a different group of 25 each time. Sometimes you end up with some mobs that have all 3 DoT's on them and sometimes you could just have 75 mobs DoT'ed with 1 DoT each. I'm not sure if it selects the 'closest 25' targets at the time the song pulses, or just randomly selects 25 from all the targets in the area each time.
Along with 'resists' this is why a swarm of mobs all the same type and roughly the same level will all die at different times instead of all together. When you have more than 100 mobs, sometimes it can be long enough difference that the first corpses will decay before the last mobs die, so you actually miss out on looting the first mobs to die.

I agree. It's kind of counter to their 'Pantheon is a group centric game' mantra. They have said that some classes might be able to solo, but they don't want this to be a common and efficient way to level up. So I'm sure they will take steps to make sure these kinds of multiple mob solo tactics are not really viable.
